The Neighborhood

The H Street Playhouse opened its doors in 2002 and became the cornerstone of what the mayor would soon call "the Cultural Arts District". Conveniently located near the intersection of Florida Avenue, Maryland Avenue, H Street, Bladensburg Road and Benning Road; this area has since become a thriving destination including restaurants, night clubs, coffee shops, art galleries, burlesque and even mini golf.

Biergarten Haus (1355 H Street NE) A German style beer garden with extensive outdoor seating and a full dinner menu.

The Liberty Tree (1016 H Street NE) New England-focused menu featuring clams, lobster and pizza.

The Star and the Shamrock(1341 H Street NE) Irish tavern serving Jewish-deli style food. Guinness and Latkes!

Dangerously Delicious Pies (1339 H Street NE) Offshoot of the Baltimore pie and punk rock joint, Dangerously Delicious sells slices of sweet and savory pies. Whole pies are available too. Menu changes daily.

H Street Country Club (1335 H Street NE) is both a bar and restaurant that features an upscale Mexican themed menu designed by Ann Cashion, a first floor game area with pool, shuffle board and skeet ball and a 9 hole, DC themed mini golf course.

Sticky Rice (1224 H Street NE and pictured at right)) is an Asian fusion restaurant that offers traditional sushi plus innovative interpretations of other Pan-Asian classics. Not to be missed are the crispy and addictive tater tots, served in a bucket with side of spicy dipping sauce.

Granville Moore's (1238 H Street NE) Nationally known for their Booby Flay Throwdown-winning moules-frites (mussels and french fries), Granville Moore's is a Gastropub with a healthy Belgian fetish. With an extensive beer list, the menu also features steaks, salads and burgers.

Taylor Gourmet (1116 H Street NE), a modern, hip and delicious take on a Philadelphia style Italian deli.

Souk (1208 H Street NE.) Moroccan cuisine in a cozy setting.

The Argonaut (1433 H Street NE) is a nautically-themed neighborhood pub with a full dinner and Sunday brunch menu. The Argonaut is now a family destination with a new kids menu and will feed the little pirates for free on Wednesday nights. (The Argonaut recently experienced a fire and is currently operating with a limited menu of soups, salads and sandwiches.)

Sova Espresso and Wine (1359 H Street NE). Featuring pastries and panini along with a menu of delicious espresso drinks and a thoughtful selection of wine and beer.

Little Miss Whiskey's Golden Dollar (1104 H Street NE) Hip bar with excellent beer list. Cash only.

Palace of Wonders (1210 H Street NE) is DC's most outrageous nightclub filled with side-show oddities.

Red and the Black (1212H Street NE) is a cozy pub featuring live music serving a small menu of Louisiana favorites.

The Pug (1234 H Street NE) is the quintessential neighborhood bar.

Fruit Bat (1236 H Street NE) a Latin influenced bar offering fruit based drinks and tapas.

Rock and Roll Hotel (1353 H Street NE) is a two-story music venue offering live music nightly.
